本研究運用國發會所編列之相關景氣循環指標、TEJ資料庫之加權股價指數與經濟部統計處「化學原材料製造業」、「肥料及氮化合物製造業」、「塑膠原料製造業」、「合成橡膠原料製造業」、「人造纖維製造業」五大化學材料製造業生產價值。以西元1993年1月至2017年12月，共計300個月，探討比對台灣景氣循環高峰、谷底基準日期及股市大盤基準日期高、低點之間領先落後情况、影響程度及領先落後之順序關係，研究發現：
1.本研究五大化學材料製造業生產價值高峰期間全部落後景氣與大盤，顯示五大化學材料製造業深受景氣影響，景氣與股市大盤可做為五大化學材料製造業的領先指標。
2.本研究化學原材料、塑膠原料、合成橡膠原料及人造纖維四大類化學材料製造業生產價值，谷底期間落後景氣與大盤，顯示此四大類化學材料製造業深受景氣影響，景氣與股市大盤可做為化學原材料、塑膠原料、合成橡膠原料及人造纖維四大類化學材料製造業的領先指標。
3.肥料及氮化合物製造業生產價值谷底期間領先景氣與大盤，顯示肥料及氮化合物製造業谷底期間領先景氣與股市大盤脫離谷底，肥料及氮化合物製造業可作為景氣與大盤的領先指標。

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the lead-lag relations of Taiwan’s business cycles to a Chemical Material Manufacturing for the five major manufacturing industries. They include ‘Manufacture of Chemical Material’, ‘Manufacture of Fertilizers and Nitrogen Compounds’, ‘Manufacture of Plastic Materials’, ‘Manufacture of Synthetic Rubber Materials’ and ‘Manufacture of Man-made Fibers’, which were issued by the Department of Statistics, MOEA. The sample period covers from Jan 1993 to Dec 2017, a total of 300 months. The main findings are as follows:
1.Around the peaks of the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index, the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index lead the production value of five Chemical Material Manufacturing and reaches their peaks first, indicating the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index can be used as the leading indicators around the business cycle and stock index troughs. The economy has larger impacts on the production value of Chemical Material Manufacturing.
2.Around the troughs of the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index, the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index lead production value of Manufacture of Chemical Material, production value of Manufacture of Plastic Materials, production value of Manufacture of Synthetic Rubber Materials and production value of Manufacture of Man-made Fibers and reaches their troughs first. Taiwan's business cycle and stock index can be used as the leading indicators around the business cycle and stock index troughs. The economy has larger impacts on the production value of these four Chemical Material Manufacturing.
3.Around the troughs of the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index, production value of Manufacture of Fertilizers and Nitrogen Compounds lead the Taiwan's business cycle and stock index and reaches their troughs first, indicating the production value of Manufacture of Fertilizers and Nitrogen Compounds can be used as the leading indicators around the business cycle and stock index troughs.
