This thesis elaborates upon the psychologically exploration process of me, a remote area teacher, toward myself. I used to be enthusiastic about rural education so I decided to leave the city and go to work in a rural non-profit organization. However, it gradually faded with time-consuming companionship and self-doubt, and I thought that I couldn’t change anything. An original question: "How can we effectively help the children in the rural area?" turned into "How to coexist with people in different situations?” in the end. Through the process of action study and self-narrative, I review my past and present experiences of rural area education, clarifying what kinds of horizon I used faced toward those children, families, schools and communities, and explore the actions and the growth of my life bringing by the changes of horizon in these days. In such a cycle of reflection and further action, " I-Thou knowledge" is produced. Learning to accept the differences between myself and other people’s life can broaden my life horizon and also make myself easier to coexist with people in different situations. |
