This research originated from a junior high school civics teacher's desire to address the challenges encountered in their educational practice. They hoped to continue realizing their ideal education and to confront their circumstances directly, rather than resorting to avoidance. Thus, they embarked on a narrative inquiry and action research journey to reflect on their life experiences from family upbringing, educational learning, teacher training, to educational practice. Through the iterative process of storytelling and action, they shifted perspectives, created space, and cultivated resilience to continue navigating within the system.
Based on their own experiences, they formulated three directions for contemplation, intended for teachers facing similar challenges within the system:
1. Cultivating their own teacher agency. 2. Recognizing others' situations and contexts, and engaging in dynamic and organic collaboration. 3. Creating space for themselves.
They aspired for all educators to rediscover the significance of their role and become their own role models, persevering within the system.
