The researcher often finds some students being disinterested in creative activities and lack of confidence. The unwillingness to participate does not necessarily derive from lack of skills but rather their lack of creativity. The research is meant to explore how to improve students’ lateral thinking through Free Form Drawing in art classes. After several cycles of action, reflection, and modification, the researcher concluds as follows: 1.Free Form Drawing course should decrease the constraints of drawing and increase the degree of freedom. 2.Timely guidance and encouragement might facilitate students’ drawing. Timely discussion and sharing can generate students’ lateral thinking. 3.Using more than one medium may enhance the students’ free form drawing. 4.Free Form Drawing enables the students to think more flexibly and improve the students’ lateral thinking ability. 5.Free Form Drawing courses may help students get more interested in art and more self-confidence help, which might also improve cultivation of aesthetic perception. Lastly, based on the research findings, the researcher offers some suggestions to scholars, parents, school administrators in hoping that Free Form Drawing may be promoted and applied in other disciplines and fields.
