This thesis is a study on the significant characteristics of “Shi Shuo Xin Yu”. Referring to annotations of ordinary editions and researches of scholars, this study reveals the codification of Shi Shuo Xin Yu, and organizes the thoughts of Confucianism. According to Prof. His-Jen Fu’s the main statement of thirty-six chapters, the first four chapters, Morality, Wording, Politics, Literature, are the core in this book, which the other thirty-two chapters deduced from. Shi Shuo Xin Yu is regarded as the new Analects because of the frequent quotes from The Analects. Furthermore, the titles of the first four chapters in Shi Shuo Xin Yu are consistent with the four Confucius subjects:Morality, Wording, Politics, Literature. Besides, scholars attached importance to self in Wei-Jin, this value interests the writer. The writer compares the same propositions in Shi Shuo Xin Yu and in the four Confucius subjects: Morality, Wording, Politics, Literature, and analyzes the characteristics in Shi Shuo Xin Yu and the ten Confucius disciples, respectively. Selected articles for junior high school students are included in this research. Shi Shuo Xin Yu was written in troubled times. It was the time of Neo-Taoism. Based on the main belief in Confucianism, Morality became the first and thechapter in Shi Shuo Xin Yu, and it leads the thoughts of the next three chapters, Wording, Politics and Literature. These four features explain what ethics is by different characteristics in Shi Shuo Xin Yu, and make them classic. The behaviors of these characteristics respond to the topic ethics in return as well. The writer focuses on the new observations of each characteristic in four Confusius subjects and Shi Shuo Xin Yu by comparing their behaviors and manners. The results could be a new point of view in teaching. The writer is looking forward to bringing his achievements back to his work for benefitting junior high school students, and inspiring them to explore more life experiences of their own. |
