Following by the increase of Local Identity and heritages preserving, more and more heritages had been received attention. Moreover, those heritages were designated as ‘‘monument’’. As a Memorial Sites, many local people appeal that those heritages can be preserved and reconstructed . ‘‘Shrine’’ ( known as ‘‘Jinja’’ ) was seen as one of the way to control people by Japanese colonial government in Taiwan in 1895-1945. Therefore, the remnants of Shrines were seen as a symbol of ‘‘Colonial Landscape’’. Due to there are different Ideology in different people, the issue of Shrine rebuilt were often stimulate debate. Japanese colonial government implement many policy at different periods, and build a lot of shrine in Taiwan. At first, Japanese bringing their Ethnic religion in. And then, the government build many Local shrine at Kominka Movement period, to make Taiwanese become a Japanese. When Nationalist government move to Taiwan, they didn’t destroy all of shrine. After Japan broke off diplomatic relations with Taiwan, Nationalist government implement decolonization policy. These year, many local people and Local Cultural and History Workers starts the activity of repair or rebuild the shrine, but many people hold different views on shrine. Furthermore, we can realize that why the preservation of Shrines is meaningful, and what form of Shrines should be kept in Taiwan.
