Purpose: this research aims to compare the differences in between several parameters that are related to Taiwan elite male swimmers in 400m freestyle competition. For example, swimming speed, stroke rate, and stroke length etc. Method: 16 male swimmers are selected as subjects. 8 male swimmers (adults) who are qualified of the final of 400m in freestyle of Taiwan national games 2019, and 8 male swimmers who are qualified of the final of 400m in freestyle of Taiwan national high school games 2019 are included. Source of videos which are collected for analysis is from numbers of swimming related websites. In the process of competition analysis, 400m will be separated in 8 sections. After watching video and analytical processing, collecting swimming relater parameters will be processed by SPSS 18.0 for statistical analysis. Results: in swimming speed, in adults and high schools class, the speed of the first section is the fastest phase than all others sections. Adults statistics are significant better than high school class in all 8 sections. In stoke rate, in adult class, from the first to the seventh sections are significant better than the eighth section. In high school class, from the third to the seventh sections are significant better than the eighth section. In stroke length, all statistics of adult class are significant better than high class. Conclusion: the strategy in the separation of speed in each section tends to be reach equal speed of each section. Stroke length is more important than stoke rate in competition. Certain regulation and moderation of stroke rate is necessary. All suggestions above are crucial for swimming competition.
