This thesis presents author’s experiences as a tourist guide through autobiographical narrative, provides the development history of modern Taiwan’s tourism industry, and provides personal opinions on the development of today’s tourism industry. It is hoped that it will be useful to practitioners who are interested in Taiwan tourism and related research. Those are helpful. I hope that the peers in the industry are advanced and engaged in the sharing and advice of tour guides. I have been in the tourism industry since the early development of Taiwan's tourism industry in 1969. I started from the basic level of airport reception staff in the tourism hotel industry, and then promoted to the management level. After more than 20 years of working life, I transferred to the tourism industry, it has been nearly 30 years as a professional tour guide. For more than 50 years, the author has witnessed the development of Taiwan's tourism industry, including the problems and solutions faced in professional work, and how tour guides should face Taiwan's tourism difficulties in the new century, especially in response to the coronavirus disease epidemic. (COVID-19) impact. Tour guide is a service industry that involves emotional contact with people, including attitude, knowledge, quality and responsibility. The mission of a tourist guide and tour leader is to enable travelers to achieve travel goals, appreciate geographical landscapes and cultural heritage, tastes local cuisine, and experience local culture and customs. The most important thing is to promote "reading thousands of books.", It’s not as good as the educational function of traveling a thousand miles. The author would like to use this paper to pay tribute to the senior tour guides and tourism practitioners who have dedicated themselves to the tourism industry in the early stage of Taiwan's tourism development.
