This research aims to investigate whether retelling picture storybooks enhance learners’
English speaking ability. Analysis learners’ learning attitude in speaking ability after got treatment
of retelling picture storybooks. In this study, three learners received retelling picture storybook
instruction for forty-five minutes per session in ten meeting. Qualitative and quantitative methods
were use in this case study for data collection. Qualitative data collected from observations,
reflection, and interview and quantitative data collected from the assessment and questioner.
The finding of this research indicate that retelling picture storybooks technique can assist
learners in enhancing English speaking ability. Furthermore, the learners had a good learning
attitude toward retelling picture storybook instruction and English learning. It was showed the
learners’ total scores in the posttest were higher than those in the pretest. Through learners’
responses indicated that retelling picture storybook instruction have advantages for their learning
attitude and learning English speaking ability.
