The distribution system is responsible for transmitting power to the users by using the distributing lines. The line loss is caused by circuit characteristics such as voltage drop and circuit impedance, metallic loss in generator equipment, and other factors including load imbalance and electricity stolen. Hualien County is located at the eastern coast of Taiwan and covers one city, 2 towns and 10 villages. It extends from the north to the south by 200 kilometers and from the east to the west by 27 to 43 kilometers with an area of 4,840 square kilometers. There are 162 feeders at 11.4KV and 9 feeders at 22.8KV, with 17 transformers inside 7 locations and power lines of 530.05 kilometers. Altogether, there are about 200,000 users within the county and all are served by the Hualien branch of the Taipower Company. This thesis investigates the automatic supervision of the real-time current load of the distribution feeder system with SS-PD (PD30) as an example. The distribution system can provide better power supply quality and reduce line loss by the protection of neutral circuit of the feeders and reduction of load imbalance. The alarm resulted from the current hike in neutral circuit due to the load imbalance can be prevented by using the couplers and the base station with PC to compare the phase sequence of the existing feeders to improve the load imbalance.
Keywords: load imbalance, line loss, coupler, base station.
