Aim: This study aimed to investigate the associations of social identification, working characteristics, job engagement , job satisfaction with resignation tendency in social workers. Methods: We used questionnaires which include 6 parts, i.e. social identification scale, working characteristics scale, job engagement scale, job satisfaction scale, resignation tendency scale and background variation. All subjects are in-service social workers in public and private social welfare organizations. Three hundred eighteen completed questionnaires were recruited and analyzed, using descriptive statistics, t test, one-way ANOVA, reliability and validity analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results: Social recognition of social workers will positively influence workers’ input into their work;The job characteristics of social work will positively affect the degree of investment in their work;The job characteristics of social work will positively affect their job satisfaction;Social worker's work input will have a direct impact on job satisfaction;Social worker's work input will not have a direct impact on turnover intention;Social workers' job satisfaction has a direct impact on their turnover intention;The job characteristics of social work do not support their turnover intention;There are significant differences in social recognition of the social worker's education level, graduation department, years of service and service target;The job characteristics of social workers will indirectly affect job engagement and job satisfaction through job autonomy, job integrity, job feedback and cooperation;Social workers' educational level, years of service, job nature and job titles have significant differences in job satisfaction;Social workers' marital status, years of service, and job titles have significant differences in turnover tendencies. Conclusions: Social workers have high job engagement and job identification and should earn better respect and treatment. We have specific recommendations in practical aspects and on future investigations.
