This study aims to discuss the reinterpretation of female image in improvisation Used jeans are the materials for the contradictory yet well-blended clothes. Due to the dynamic flow of time, a used jean has its own natural and unique color slips, along with aged and mottled aesthetics. Rebellious design of irregular hemline, asymmetry front/back bodice, unfinished sense in incompleteness, imperfect perfection, fragmented completeness, and finite infinity were shown in the author’s improvisation. With the author’s professional experience in cloth design and sales experience in cloth industry, this study on experimental clothing design is a process of self-discovery. Without the constraints of market needs and the limitation of past creation, the author could thus probe into the possibilities and methods to recycle and reuse used blue jeans. With the rise of fast fashion and its public acceptance in modern society, the stunning waste of fast purchase and fast waste of used clothes has been gradually increasing. With the value of “extending life of materials” and the concept of recycling and reconstruction, the author strived to imitate nature’s continuous and circular reproduction to achieve the goal of zero waste. In addition, how to turn waste into new products or installation art was considered. The creation positioning includes a horough study of the birth, evolution, transformation of blue jeans, and the influence brought by contemporary Avant-garde clothing designers. Irregular and asymmetrical design, sense of incompleteness and unfinished, and the imperfect perfection represented a deeper meaning of the author’s creation. Finally, the overall work expressed a positive attitude towards the new value of extending material life.
