This is an art feast of personal creation. Filled with freshness and a sense of achievement, the sixtieth year of the artist’s life, interacting with a variety of people, events, and things, sees the splendid sparkles unparalleled from the learning and knowledge that had never been experienced before. During the transition from the comfort in everyday life to a little pressure and frustration in graduate school as well as from unfamiliarity to proficiency, the artist has indeed experienced the extreme beauty in life and the purpose for artistic creation. Choosing two favored media to create original artworks, the artist hopes to add an annotation to and leave a distinctive record of brilliance and colorfulness in personal life miles. The content of this statement consists of the artist’s life history, respect for nature, love for geometric shapes, and feelings towards people. Entitled Exchange of Shapes for Styles, the artist statement of this project includes four chapters. Chapter One describes the juncture and change of thinking at which the making of traditional everyday tools and vessels is transformed into modern modeling. By looking for topics and foundations for artistic creation from life experiences, feelings, and memories, the artist looks forward to finding new dynamic directions in creating artworks. Chapter Two collects and examines the creative concepts of leading artists home and abroad, whose creative techniques and presentation of styles are also considered and learned by the artist. The next chapter, the creative concept and form of the project, elaborates on the stepping out of the fixed shapes of things and their transformation into abstract forms in the psychological and emotional perspective. Lines and symbols serve as the basis; media, glaze colors, and forms are used to explore the possibilities of artistic creation. In terms of format, geometric ceramics and free three-dimensional modeling are the major choices accompanied by curves, straight lines, and color lumps to enrich the meanings of the artworks in the project, which were burned and finished via the wood firing. The final chapter, interpretation of the artworks, suggests the completion of the project, which has fully expressed the artist’s concept of shape change. It is only when daring to try and break with outdated convention that one can enjoy brand new rewards. You should be your own editor of all amazing pages in life. Actions speak louder than vain thoughts. The learning journey in graduate school has brought a whole new meaning and feeling to the artist’s life. It is also fortunate that the artist may share the results of this art project with the audience.
