The researchers have no idea when it was started, however this researcher found that he preferred Chinese-style art, totems and designs, etc., and was quite curious about the development of traditional Chinese culture and art. Perhaps the influence from his family’s education, or the books and visual stimuli that he had been exposed to, made the researcher have a simple and enthusiastic heart that loved traditional art.
Dunhuang art is the original birthplace of the popularity of Chinese mural art. The number of murals in it has one of the most abundant bases in China, and also the world. It is also the record point of the gradual introduction of Buddhism into China. Therefore, through the collection of literature, it is possible to contact the people around you. The Chinese-style totems that had arrived are connected to it. If there was no breakdown of the COVID-19 coronavirus in 2019, the researcher would have liked to go to Dunhuang to find out more. The beauty of Dunhuang has already attracted many artists and researchers to make pilgrimages to study, and the story of Dunhuang frescoes was well explained in detail.
When searching for totems related to dance music, through documents and classics, and analysing them, they gained a greater understanding. At the same time, they also used the experience of three modern artists, Hua Sanchuan, Huang Youwei and Chen Youbai, who studied the totems of Dunhuang frescoes. The styles and painting forms of the three artists combine the ancient and the modern to create a novel painting style.
Through the creation and concept sharing of predecessors, he tried to combine local media and Dunhuang murals to complete the creation of dance music totems. The "wall" and "painting" of the mural were dismantled separately, and the "wall" was painted in Hualian. Compared with the patterns of ground jade, the "painting" part is expressed in the form of scratches, resulting in seven kinds of stone dance totems, namely: "marble pattern", "granite pattern", "serpentine pattern", "Rose Stone Pattern", "Presidential Stone Pattern", "Tree Jade Pattern", "Sand Kazang Rock Layer Stone Pattern". The seven kinds of jade not only represent eastern Taiwan, but also break through the gap between tradition and modernity, connecting the two generations perfectly, reducing old-fashioned ideas and creating new existential value for murals.
