This thesis is rooted in my own experience as a highly sensitive person and is meant to elaborate on the common feelings of the group. Growing up frustrated by the inability to process my own emotions, I gradually summarized the chaotic feelings by rational research process and finally expressed them through images. In the creative process of painting, I used the combination of the natural objects to master the ambiance to create the art that depicts the oppressed feelings from my life. Further, summarizing the sources of emotions by concretizing them helps me to understand the factors that trigger emotional fluctuations in highly sensitive people, resulting in self-reconciliation. To examine whether my painting can enable the viewers to share the same feelings or not, I also analyzed the works of artists whose work also expressed rich emotions. And then, I adjusted the creative methods, techniques and creative steps one by one, and introduced the creative background to give the viewers more clarity on the context. Therefore, the thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduced my creative background and how it relates to the motivation and purpose of this series of paintings. The second chapter explained the theoretical foundation and clarified the emotional context of oneself by studying relevant literature. By referring to the artist's expression of emotions, I can elicit feelings in the viewers in appropriate ways. The third chapter used emotions from previous experience and the combination of color and natural objects and apply them in the process of creative expression. And the fourth chapter elaborates on my work’s expression and transfers emotions in every single detail of my art. Creative painting is not only a means of self-exploration and feeling-vented, but also a way in which viewers are enabled to understand highly sensitive people better.I am hoping that highly sensitive people can begin to redefine self-concept, learn to identify and accept their uniqueness through my work. |
