This study aims to investigate the differences in social-cognitive functioning between individuals with the Broad Autism Phenotype (BAP) and typically-developing individuals.
Social interaction is one of the most important developmental tasks for young adults, but for some of them, it is not easy due to differences in such as personality or physiology. The present study focuses on social cognitive functioning of individuals with the Broad Autism Phenotype (BAP) by face recognition and eye-gaze processing tasks.
Convenience sampling was used to recruit students between the ages of 20 and 40 from the National Dong Hwa University. In the first stage, the adult version of the Autism-spectrum Quotient (AQ) was used to screen out the participants with BAP as the experimental group, and the typically-developing participants as the control group. There are two cognitive tasks in the second stage: " the eye-gaze judgmental task " and " the second-order configural processing task ".
The results showed that there was no difference in performance between the BAP group and the normal. The pattern of processing of socially relevant information was similar.
