For researchers who are interested in local affairs and those who want to get involved in political work, Hualien is generally considered to be labeled as "a piece of iron plate". Or is it a label that has gradually changed in quality and is no longer applicable to the current situation? What do local political workers and election data reflect? This study hopes to provide different perspectives and observations.
This study will attempt to answer these questions through the "analysis of election data" by the Central Election Committee and the "analysis of interviews" by local political workers, as well as to outline the changing political ecology of Hualien County's constituency, providing a more comprehensive perspective to understand the current situation and relevant factors in the practice of local democracy and local political dynamics beyond the central level.
Although the election results in Hualien County are not surprising in terms of data, and even very much in line with the established impressions of the outside world, the voting behavior of the voters therein has gradually accumulated enough energy to change the landscape of future election results.
Such a message can be seen as a warning signal or a sign of continued effort for the major parties, and not without hope for the emerging parties. The answer in this study is perhaps ambiguous-apparently party identification still directly corresponds to the results of local elections (as in Hualien), but the signals revealed are not categorical in terms of long-term predictability. |
