This paper aims to examine the transformation process of the author's self-identity through learning and creation in the field of art. The narration of life stories was an inspiration for the author’s construction and reflection on self-identity during graduate studies. Moreover, the ideas for artistic creation were used to realize and create artworks that highlight personal philosophy and life. The purpose of analyzing inner feelings and needs is to rediscover self-worth. The methodology of this thesis includes four steps. First, relevant literature and knowledge were collected and read to cultivate multi-faceted thinking. Second, the images, life events, diaries, and notes were used as sources for narrative writing. Third, with the inspiration of aesthetic perception training, painting creation functioned as a tool for self-conversation, which looks back to life experience. Fourth, organizing a solo exhibition and discovering self-consciousness during this process helped to acknowledge a connection between psychological state and cognitive orientation. This paper further probes into the meaning and value of self-identity through the paths of self-observation, creative practice, and retrospection. Finally, the interaction of internal and external analysis and reflection extends to an attempt and examination of self-worth as an art creator.
