This paper describes how a multinomial logistic model is derived, estimated, and can be used when considering the future development of passengers’ choosing between different modes of transportation. There are few different types of transportation in Mongolia; four forms of transportation—plane, normal train, car, and high-speed rail (HSR)—have been taken into consideration in this study. We have considered five factors, including gender, level of education, type of occupation, monthly income, and traveling purpose of the respondents, to analyze of the transportation mode choice in Mongolia.
Additionally, this study intends to put into place the perfect train system that pleases travelers today while drawing in more in the future. The future plan has been analytically supported and will be presented in detail.
The findings of this research are, males have strong preference towards driving, females prefer public transportation more than males and different preferences depending on age groups. This study also provides theoretical and practical implications on how to develop an efficient railway network and engage passengers’ needs.
